Annual Elske v.P. Smith Lecture

The College presents this spring’s Elske v.P. Smith Lecture on Thursday, March 29th featuring Dr. Judyth Twigg (Political Science).  Dr. Twigg will be presenting her lecture on Demography as Destiny: Politics and Human Capital in Putin’s Russia.  The discussion will place the speaker’s research on health and population trends in Russia within the context of likely political and foreign policy developments following Russia’s March 18, 2018 presidential elections.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The Elske v.P. Smith Distinguished Lecturer award was established in honor of the former dean of the College, Elske Smith (1980-1992).  The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding professor in the College. The recipient of the award will present a College-wide lecture of a sufficiently general nature to appeal to the public at large and his or her name will be added to a plaque after the presentation. The additional purpose of the award is to highlight the efforts of the College within, as well as outside the university.  Learn more about faculty and staff awards here.
