Diana Woodcock, B.S. Psychology ’74 and M.F.A. Creative Writing ’04, recently published a collection of poems Under the Spell of a Persian Nightingale. She is also the author of Swaying on the Elephant’s Shoulders, which won the 2010 Venice Quebodeaux International Poetry Prize for Women, and six chapbooks including Beggar in the Everglades, Desert Ecology: Lessons and Visions, Tamed by the Desert, In the Shade of the Sidra Tree, Mandala and Travels of a Gwai Lo. Since earning her M.F.A. in 2004, she has been teaching at VCU in Qatar and is a Ph.D. candidate (creative writing/poetry) at Lancaster University.
