Winnie’s primary focus as Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs is to promote diversity and inclusion in the recruitment, retention, and development of all faculty across the College. Winnie is responsible for coordinating the promotion and tenure process and overseeing faculty development, including coordination with the Office of Faculty Affairs in the Provost Office of mentoring junior and mid-career faculty, coordinate the selection of College-level awards and the College’s nominations for University-, state-, and national-level awards. She manages emeriti and affiliate faculty appointments, as well as applications for Commonwealth and University Professorships, and coordinates faculty elections to University-level committees.
Winnie expects to continue working closely with the other Associate Deans to promote research and to oversee budget and personnel matters among faculty of all ranks, in addition to faculty involvement in undergraduate and graduate student affairs. A significant portion of her duties involves conflict resolution and management in coordination with the Director of Faculty, Student, and Staff Affairs, while acting as College liaison to the Office of Faculty Affairs in the Provost Office (particularly the Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention) and the Division of Inclusive Excellence.
Winnie is also an Associate Professor in the Department of English whose research and teaching focus is on World Anglophone Literature and Postcolonial Studies.
