As Associate Dean of Research, Scott leads the Office of Research in the College, which is responsible for pre-award and post-award management of proposals and grants. Scott’s office should be your first point of contact when you consider pursuing a funding opportunity. He is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, fostering and facilitating multi-investigator/multi-discipline proposals. In addition, Scott is involved in resource allocation for scholarly activities including HEETF, the PeRQ program, indirect-cost return, start-up expenses, and other local funding sources.
One of his early priorities will be to reach out to all departments in the College and develop plans for building enhanced external support for their programs. Most of all, the he is committed to helping faculty and students at VCU have the best possible opportunity to pursue their research and scholarly activities.
Scott is also a professor and former chair of the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on using mass spectrometry to investigate problems in organic and biological chemistry.
