As Associate Dean of Research, Josh leads the Office of Research in the College, which is responsible for pre-award and post-award management of proposals and grants. Josh’s office should be your first point of contact when you consider pursuing a funding opportunity. He is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, and fostering and facilitating multi-investigator/multi-discipline proposals. In addition, Josh is involved in resource allocation for scholarly activities including the SEED and Catalyst awards, HEETF, the PeRQ, UROP and Baldacci programs, indirect-cost return, start-up expenses, and other local funding sources.
One of his early priorities will be to reach out to all departments in the College and develop plans for building enhanced external support for their programs. Most of all, he is committed to mentoring and helping faculty and students at VCU have the best possible opportunity to pursue their research and scholarly activities.
Josh is also a professor in the Psychology department. His research focuses on working with community and school organizations to improve the academic and educational outcomes of adolescents and emerging adults, with a particular focus on individuals with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
