Alumnus named GNYC Boy Scouts of America Board President

The Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts of America (GNYC), which provides services to some 47,000 youths in New York City’s five boroughs, recently named Board of Trustees Executive Committee member Richard ‘Ricky’ Mason (Economics and Political Science ’83/H&S) as Volunteer Board President.

Mason is a partner in the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, one of the leading business firms in the country.  A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and New York University School of Law, he is a recognized leader in the field of business reorganization.  Mason has served as an Executive Committee member for GNYC’s Board of Trustees for five years.

“We are honored to have these dedicated and accomplished volunteers in our organization,” said Ethan Draddy, GNYC Scout Executive and CEO. The Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts serves young people by enabling them to develop healthy habits; teaching a lifelong appreciation of physical and personal fitness, including the prevention of bullying; instilling environmental stewardship and sustainability; providing leadership development and STEM Education, and also preparing young people for the workforce.
